Noon E-Commerce
High-Scale Digital Retail
Performance engineering for the Middle East's largest e-commerce platform serving millions of daily users

Understanding
the Problem
Noon.com, the largest e-commerce platform in the Middle East, needed to scale its frontend to handle millions of concurrent users during peak sale events like Yellow Friday. The existing checkout flow had a high cart abandonment rate, and search result pages suffered from slow rendering times on mid-range mobile devices — the primary browsing device for their user base.
How We Built It
Profiled and optimized critical rendering paths using Lighthouse and Chrome DevTools, identifying and eliminating render-blocking resources
Implemented code splitting and lazy loading strategies to reduce initial bundle size by over 40%, dramatically improving Time to Interactive on mobile
Re-engineered the checkout flow with a streamlined, single-page design that reduced steps from 5 to 3, incorporating address auto-detection and saved payment methods
Optimized search result rendering with virtualized lists and progressive image loading, ensuring smooth scrolling even with thousands of product results
Built a responsive layout system that maintained consistent UX across mobile, tablet, and desktop breakpoints for the Middle Eastern market (RTL support included)
Implemented performance monitoring dashboards to track Core Web Vitals in real-time and alert on regressions before they reached production
