IDCOLAB
Immersive 3D Visualisation
Where design gets decided — a visual-first collaboration platform for interior designers

Understanding
the Problem
Interior designers struggled with fragmented workflows — sharing renderings via email, collecting feedback through scattered WhatsApp messages, and losing track of design revisions. IDColab needed a cloud-native platform that could render 3D models and 360° panoramas directly in the browser, with a collaborative file management system that felt as intuitive as Google Drive.
How We Built It
Architected a Next.js application with server-side rendering for SEO and fast initial loads, backed by AWS S3 for high-performance asset delivery
Integrated Babylon.js for real-time 3D model rendering with camera controls, lighting, and material editing — all running at 60fps in the browser
Built a pannellum-react powered 360° panorama viewer with hotspot annotations, allowing designers to pin comments directly onto immersive scenes
Developed a Google Drive-inspired file/folder system with drag-and-drop upload, nested folders, sharing permissions, and version history tracking
Created a responsive layout system that adapts flawlessly from 85-inch smart TVs to mobile phones, using CSS container queries and fluid typography
Implemented real-time collaboration features including pinned comments, activity feeds, surveys/polls, and project timelines
Impact Delivered
“The platform transformed how our team presents designs to clients. The 3D viewer alone has cut our revision cycles in half.”
